Filing for Chapter 13 bankruptcy allows the debtor to begin repaying a portion of his or her debts without the trauma of harassment from creditors. If you have a steady income, the Bankruptcy Court can approve a payment plan. Every month a payment is made to a Trustee who then distributes the money to the creditors.
